The purpose of the Coalition for a Tobacco Free Vermont is to promote and assist in the implementation of policies and programs at the state, local, and national levels to reduce tobacco use and its impact on the health and economic well being of Vermonters.

February, 2013: In the Governor’s proposed budget, the Tobacco Trust Fund, created to sustain Vermont’s future efforts to prevent kids from smoking and help smokers quit, will be nearly empty next summer with a remaining balance of just $34,000. Without long-term investment in tobacco control, Vermont, a national leader on health and healthcare reform, is missing a tremendous opportunity to save lives and address the major driver of healthcare costs – tobacco use.
